This is not related to AB but I did not know where else to put it.

I was doing the Luxon quest "The Jade Arena" today on my ranger who I am trying to move through Factions. The quest itself is not hard (read about it here http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Jade_Arena ) It was on the second time I was doing it that I subbed out punishing shot for Barrage. It took me around 1 min to kill all the convicts in the arena, they group together nice, I was maxing out barrage (hitting all 6 targets) with each shot.

You get 2000xp 400 luxon faction and 150 gold each time you do the quest.

I was hopping that some people would like to try a Barrage group with me and see how fast it goes. You can run to the quest in less than a minuet and with several barrage rangers the quest itself will last about as long I am thinking.

Note to the mods; sorry if I put this thread in the wrong place, I really had no idea where since it was half pve and pvp.

to the OP: if this really does only take 1 min, and a barrage group works (splinter wep pls i love that) quick on these guys, then I'd try it out with you for FFing. If we dont have enough people we can just hero it. IGN Balthazar of Source (not sure if my ranger skipped or came across that area, but it shoudlnt' take long to get there if i skipped it with him)

barrage works great, used to do with heroes and aurora(barrage) make sure to bring thefrozen soil and I kinda like natures renewal.

Have been using the jade arena for ages now for luxon faction farming, its also a great way to steadily increase the exp on your character. Shame its not as fast as the kurzick faction farming method

Splinter weapon verdict: Good but each person would need to bring their own. Because barrage attacks more than one person Splinter weapon goes off every time, leaving the 5 second downtime to long to be useful if used only buy a Rit.

General build I have been using..

Barrage
Splinter Weapon
Power Shot
Savage Shot
Zojuns Haste
Dodge
Frozen Soil
Rez Sig

14 Expertise
14 Marksmanship
8 Channeling
6 WS

This build seems to work alright, I run the henchies past the first mobs using flags and then flag them on the hill about the spawn while I grab the quest, once I get quest I go down, cast frozen and then kill them in short order. I am also working on a E/D tank that can do fast AoE damage without dieing (using things like flameburst and inferno every 3 seconds so that they AI does not run, but still contributes to the fight as well as keeps the warriors in one place)

It would still be very effective with a Rt/Me that echoes splinter weapon. Witch just 15 channeling it lasts for 60 seconds so could be cast on everyone, and splinter weapon does 50 damage. With just 1 barrage you could do 250 damage from just splinter weapon, if you went with a full group of 7 rangers and 1 Rt/Me then you could spike for 1,750 damage excluding the damage from barrage itself.

well for the E/D, if there are no enchant strips or ints, you could run the same build rangers run ont he kappa outside of gyala hatchery. Mark of Rodgort with inferno and flame burst (cast not consecutively as it would set off aoe mob) can be quick. As for the build, we can run a basic barrage group but if you want to make it more complicated and possibly a quicker run, we can through in an R/P and maybe a jagged bomber, though we probably wont need an MM of any kind if barrage clears the groups as quick as i think you're saying they do. anyways, para is always great with barrage, anthem of flame+ToF ftw

yea i did it today cept i went thumper with all melee dudes cept my hero ranger that i just made the standard burning arrow with apply with the addon of frozen soil you can finish it in about 40-50seconds and just keep gging them

seems like wiki is undergoing some changes, it's databases seem to have been cleaned out. more than half the subjects on it are stubs and I am getting minimum information searching through there. I wanted to read up on exactly where the quest is attained and how far it is from a zoning point and etc (i dont know all of the jade sea by heart and I did not explore this area very much since it was not really necessary for advancing through the storyline). could you tell me outside which outpost is the most convenient for attaining and completing the quest? I want to try this out on my spare time before we get an organized group to farm this. Heck I might even try out a few runs with guildies and see what problems we encounter as a b/p group

Did it some times with heroes yesterday, its fun.
And about getting there, take the south exit of breaker hollow and keep hugging the right wall, then you won't have any problems finding it.
If you dont have breaker hollow yet, just exit cavalon (south) and go northwest.

easily done with heroes and aurora, dont bother waiting for a PuG, if you have friends/guildies than go ahead... and you dont need a full party for it, but perhaps a monk or 2 would be nice just incase
